GET TRAINED

Properly administered CPR can help stabilize an injured or ailing person until professional help arrives. Make sure that at least one member of your household is trained in CPR and how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED), and you’ll be able to help anyone, whether in your home, at your job, or in your community.

The Nashville Area Red Cross offers various types of health and safety training locally.

Teach children how to dial 9-1-1 in an emergency.

Learn the emergency action steps:
1. Check the scene and the victim to see if it’s safe and assess the cause.
2. Call 9-1-1 or your local emergency number, and request professional assistance.
3. Care for the victim if you can reach the person safely.
